CEANYC is a membership-based organization that provides the following services to cooperatives and solidarity economy groups in the five boroughs:
- Connections to technical assistance for the management and operation of community-led cooperatives
- Leadership development and political education
- Communications and marketing support
- Networking opportunities to build relationships with neighbors, advocates, experts, investors, cooperators, elected officials, and organizers who want to support co-ops and solidarity economics
- Opportunities to build economic relationships with likeminded businesses and institutions
- Spaces to share and build knowledge with others facing similar challenges to growing and sustaining co-op and solidarity economy efforts
- Connections to social movements and opportunities to build political power for our communities
CEANYC also advocates for greater understanding and support for our members by:
- Raising awareness about the role and value of cooperatives and the solidarity economy
- Engaging groups and coalitions in effective policy advocacy, and pressing for the creation of a NYC Office of Cooperative Economics
- Researching and disseminating best practices in the field
In 2013-2014 we conducted focus groups to identify what the programs should be. Check out our report to learn more.
